Lampyridae are a family of stubborn insects with over 2,000 species described. They are soft-bodied beetles, and are commonly called fireflies because of their visible use of bioluminescence at dusk, which attracts other fireflies for mating or prey. Lampyridae  produce "cold light" without infrared or ultraviolet frequencies. This chemically produced light from the lower abdomen can be yellow, green or pale red, with a wavelength of 510 to 670 nanometers.
This photo was taken at night, so the first image is with flash and the second without flash.
